CUPCAKES
"All About Me": Pieces on display at Gallery Page and Strange in Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 2014
Cake is a staple of any toddler parent’s life, so I took a cake decorating course, figuring that I could save money by making my own cake. Alas, what I saved in dollars, I gained in ounces, as home-baked goods went from being an annual to a weekly event. The course came to an end, and though I had not scaled the dizzying heights of shaping fondant, it was time to call it quits and turn my hand to a more durable product. Each tiny cake represents a small, stolen window of time in the studio, and offers the chance to really have your cake, without eating it too.
